Campground Access Control Powered by License Plate Recognition

Guests Book. Their License Plate Opens the Gate.

Connected to Your Campground Reservation System

Inex campground access control connects directly with your reservation system. When guests book, their license plate is linked to their reservation and sent automatically to IZCloud. When they arrive, the gate opens automatically—no check-in lines, windshield permits or PIN codes that can be shared.

Inex also helps campgrounds and RV parks track visitor vehicles, enforce paid access periods and collect revenue from additional vehicles and visitors who stay longer than they paid for.

Campground and RV Park Access Control That Generates Additional Revenue

A visitor may pay for one day, say they are visiting friends and then leave their vehicle at the campground for a week. Inex records when each vehicle enters and exits, helping your staff identify extended stays and collect the correct visitor or additional-vehicle fees.

Unlike PIN codes that can be passed from one person to another, a license plate is tied to a specific vehicle and approved access period. This helps prevent unauthorized entry, credential sharing and unpaid stays.

Campground Access Control for Security and Vehicle Forensics

The Inex campground access control system creates a searchable record of vehicles entering and exiting your property. Authorized staff can search by entrance or exit lane, date and time, or a full or partial license plate to quickly find relevant vehicle activity.

If an Amber Alert, theft, accident or other security incident occurs, you can determine whether a vehicle entered the campground or RV park, when it arrived and when it left. These searchable vehicle records support internal investigations and can provide valuable information when responding to law-enforcement requests.

Reliable License Plate Recognition for Campgrounds and RV Parks

Inex uses professional license plate recognition cameras designed to capture vehicles entering and exiting your property during the day or at night. Our recognition software supports license plates from every U.S. state, Canadian province and Mexico, and is regularly updated as new plate designs are introduced. Camera placement is tailored to your guests and traffic patterns.

Inex can capture front plates, rear plates or both – helping reduce missed reads caused by bicycle racks, trailers or obstructed license plates.

Some guests arrive in rental vehicles or with a long combination of an RV, boat, trailer and passenger car. For these situations, the reservation system can issue a one-time PIN for the guest’s initial entry. After the RV or trailer is parked, the guest’s registered passenger-car license plate becomes their access credential for entering and exiting the campground. Because the arrival PIN works only once, it cannot continue circulating as a reusable gate code.

Campground Access Control for Showers, Pools and Amenities

Through the same integration, the reservation system can generate unique, time-limited PIN codes for showers, restrooms, pools, bathhouses, laundry facilities, recreation rooms and other campground amenities. Each code works only for the approved reservation period and expires automatically at checkout, giving guests convenient access without requiring campground staff to manage keys or reusable codes.

Inex provides PIN-pad access devices for amenity gates and doors. Campground staff can also use the Inex system to create separate PIN codes and access schedules for employees, visitors, vendors and maintenance personnel.

Campground Access Control Customer Testimonials

Campground and RV resort operators use Inex license plate recognition and automated access control to reduce gate-related work, prevent credential sharing, improve security, and create a more convenient arrival experience for their guests.

The following customer stories demonstrate how Inex campground access control delivers measurable operational, financial, and security benefits.

Rip Van Winkle Campgrounds: Reducing Costs and Unauthorized Access

“With Inex, our guests’ license plates became their access credentials. People can share a PIN or an RFID card, but they cannot change or share the license plate attached to their vehicle. The integration with NewBook also eliminated our daily manual imports, making access more secure, efficient, and automatic from check-in through checkout.” Read the full Rip Van Winkle Campgrounds success story.

— Brian Ellsworth, Owner, Rip Van Winkle Campground, NY

Inex helped Rip Van Winkle Campgrounds reduce unauthorized entry, eliminate repetitive reservation imports, and address approximately $10,000 in annual losses associated with shared credentials and replacement RFID cards.

Cozy Hills Campground and SkyRidge Trails: Supporting a Police Investigation

“Inex gives us much more than automated gate access. It provides a searchable record of the vehicles entering and leaving our property. When suspicious activity occurred, we had the license plate images and time-stamped records needed to assist law enforcement.”

— Lelah Campo, Owner, Cozy Hills Campground and SkyRidge Trails, CT

When a suspicious group arrived at SkyRidge Trails claiming to be contractors, owner Lelah Campo noticed that their behavior and lack of equipment did not match their story.

Because the campground was equipped with Inex license plate recognition cameras, Lelah had access to clear vehicle images, license plate information, and time-stamped entry and exit records.

Champions Riverside Resort: Eliminating the Need to Manage the Gate All Day

“Inex changed my life. I no longer have to spend my entire day managing the gate. The system handles guest access automatically and has given me my time back.”

— Tina Severson, Chief Operating Officer, Champions Riverside Resort, WI

Inex automated campground gate access using guests’ registered license plates. Tina no longer had to remain at the gate throughout the day and could focus on guests, resort operations, and her personal life.
